Volunteer on a Dental Education Programme

We are currently looking for volunteers for the following Dental Education Programmes:

  1. Join a 1 or 2 week Outreach Programme in Tanzania. The work will involve screening and treating patients, but the key focus is training and mentoring local dental therapists.
  2. Join a 1 week Oral Health Training/Prevention Programme in Tanzania training Teachers and Community Health Workers to cascade oral health education messages into their communities.
  3. Join the 1 or 2 week Infant Oral Mutilation/Oral Health Programmes in Tanzania – running workshops to eradicate the practice of Infant Oral Mutilation and deliver Oral Health Education sessions in communities and schools.
  4. Join the Dental School Oral Health Champion Project in the UK to support dental students to engage with their communities and train Oral Health Champions.
  5. Offer admin support to the Bridge2Aid team in the UK.

How much does it cost to volunteer?

Volunteers fund their own costs – flights, and in-country costs such as transport, hotels and food.

Costs for 2025 Dental Education Programmes in Tanzania:

1 week:

  • Deposit – £150 – to secure your place
  • Flights – approximately £800 – £1300. Paid direct to the Travel Agent and differ depending on when
  • In-country costs – £600 – to include all transport, accommodation and food
  • Registration with MCT £150 –only for dentists on the outreach programme to register to work
  • Visa – $50 – To pay directly to the visa authorities in Tanzania

 2 weeks:

  • Deposit – £150 – to secure your place
  • Flights – approximately £800 – £1300. Paid direct to the Travel Agent and differ depending on when
  • In-country costs – £1300 – to include all transport, accommodation and food
  • Registration with MCT £150 –only for dentists on the outreach programme to register to work
  • Visa – $50 – To pay directly to the visa authorities in Tanzania

 You are able to fundraise for all of your costs, and we can help to set up giving pages etc.

 Costs for 2025 Dental Schools Project/Admin Support

There is no cost to volunteer, and we are able to pay expenses

I’m interested in volunteering  – what do I do?

  1. Complete a Volunteer Application Form

If you want to join a Dental Education Programme in Tanzania:

  1. You can choose to join one of our volunteer information virtual meetings – dates will be sent.
  2. We will get in touch to discuss your options, and if possible, assign you to a team or a wait list.
  3. We will get references for you.
  4. You can pay the £150 deposit and complete an initial agreement form to hold your place.
  5. We will then guide you through all of the necessary paperwork, plans and flight bookings.
  6. You will get a schedule of payments and details on how to fundraise.
  7. You can attend a volunteer training session.
  8. You’ll meet you team at the airport – and off you’ll go!
